Creating a healthy lifestyle has been a lifelong journey for me. I have struggled to shed excess weight for most of my adult life. I tried several quick fix weight loss plans but I always gained the weight back and then some. Weight loss maintenance was a big problem for me. Sometimes I have felt like my body was hard wired to regain the pounds I have lost. In my heart, I knew that there had to be an alternative to the roller coaster ride of traditional diet plans.
Several years ago, I weighed over 215 pounds and I was diagnosed as a pre-diabetic. My doctor wanted me to use drugs to shed the excess pounds. I tried them but I didn’t like the side effects. I started eating more fruits and vegetables and eventually lost 30 pounds. Amazingly, my pre-diabetic diagnosis was also reversed.
In my pursuit of a healthier lifestyle, I became a certified health coach. As a coach, I help people address their health and wellness issues. We work together to develop sensible meal plans and regular exercise programs that support their current body conditions. To reach their ideal weight and maintain it, they must be willing to form new habits. The process of change and growth never ends.
